Affects of Kratom

Kratom will affect each person differently although most will have the same general affects from the same strains.  If we use the analogy of alcohol, you understand that different alcohols affect people differently.  In addition, some people tolerate a large amount of alcohol without much affect, while others are drastically affected.  So it is with kratom.

Kratom is very useful as a pain reliever. It has known analgesic properties. It has been used by opioid users to break their addiction to opioids. Depending on the strain, other affects experienced are relaxation, better sleep, more energy, and increased mental focus.

Kratom also has known anti-inflammatory properties and is an immune system booster.

As far as kratom is concerned, everybody metabolizes the countless compounds in Mitragyna speciosa differently from one another. For example, while one person could try Green Maeng Da kratom and report weak effects, you might feel that that specific Green Maeng Da strain and batch is the strongest kratom you’ve ever tried.

In summary, always remember that you’ll never truly know how strong a strain, color, or batch of kratom is until you try it yourself. Finding what works best for you might take some trial and error.

SOME PRECAUTIONS
  • Never take kratom if you’re pregnant.  No research on how kratom affects the fetus is available. It’s best for pregnant women to leave it alone for now.
  • Never mix kratom with prescription drugs.  Mixing drugs sounds like a no-brainer. But it’s worth to know that there’re three death cases when kratom was combined with Tramadol.
  • Avoid kratom if you have low blood pressure, renal and cardiac problems, ulcers, and schizophrenia.
  • Under no circumstances should you combine kratom with high doses of caffeine, alcohol, cocaine, or amphetamine-like drugs.
  • Avoid Benzodiazepines at any cost. It can be deadly because it makes breathing difficult.
  • Always start with a small dose until you understand how kratom will affect you.  You can always take more.
SIDE EFFECTS
Kratom can be addictive as coffee. Addictions are common for people who use kratom every day for recreational purposes. Side effects depend on the strains and how you consume kratom. Kratom extracts are stronger compared to raw, plain leaf. And they can induce unpleasant side effects. Leaves or crushed leaves do not have as strong of alkaloids and are therefore, less addictive with less unpleasant side effects.

High doses can cause constipation because of diarrhea controlling qualities of kratom. Not common. It can be avoided if you increase your fiber and water intake. Vomiting is also a side effect with high doses. Thus it is virtually impossible to die of an overdose of kratom as it is ingested, not smoked or injected directly into the bloodstream.

Some people report they experience an upset stomach because they are sensitive to the leaves. If you have a sensitive stomach, you can use a more concentrated form of kratoms like tinctures or mild powders.

Overusing kratom builds up a tolerance, and the positive effects are no longer felt. How much tolerance depends on the potency of the strain and individual biochemistry.

Avoid tolerance by not taking anything from time to time. Let your receptors return to their normal state. Try to change strain, so you don’t get the “single strain syndrome.” People who switch to another strain from the previous one report it’s almost like the first time they tried kratom.

How To Consume Kratom

Kratom Dosage?
One way to measure dosage is with a scale. Since a typical dose of kratom is just a few grams, one should ideally use a scale that can measure down to a single gram and is accurate to at least 1/10th of a gram. Start small, 2 – 3g, and if you don’t feel anything after 20-30 minutes, take it up a notch. You want to feel the effects ever so slightly and take it from there, not the other way round.
Measuring kratom by volume is less accurate than measuring by weight because the finer the kratom is, the less volume it will take. A teaspoon of finely powdered kratom will weigh more than a teaspoon of loosely crushed or coarsely ground leaves. On average, 1 LEVEL teaspoon of most commercially available, finely powdered kratom will weigh about 2 grams. Since there are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon, that means that a LEVEL tablespoon of finely powdered kratom will weigh, on average, about 6 to 7 grams. That is a mid-sized dose for kratom of average potency (possibly a strong dose for high-potency kratom, or a mild dose for low-potency kratrom).

What are the different ways to consume kratom
Chewing Leaves
Inhabitants of Southeast Asia often enjoy Kratom by chewing fresh leaves of the plant.
It is the most immediate way of consumption, as it only requires to remove the central vein
from the leaf. A dried leaf has a tougher and rough texture and is, therefore, less practical or
enjoyable to chew. For that reason, most people rather crush dry leaves into powder.

Toss and Wash
The quickest way to ingest Kratom powder is to swallow it. You scoop the desired amount of
powder and put it directly to your mouth. While it is still in your mouth, takes a big sip of water.
Now swirl it around inside your mouth, until that the powder mixes up with water. Then swallow
the substance. DO NOT BREATHE IN UNTIL AFTER YOU SWALLOW. That “toss and wash”
method is one of the most popular ones.

Capsules
Kratom powder is also available in edible capsules, much like any other supplements. You just
need to swallow it and drink some water or any other liquid afterward. You should start feeling
the effects after half an hour. This is convenient for several reasons:
· You don’t have to weight and measure the powder
· You don’t need to prepare it
· You will avoid the bitterish taste of Kratom powder

Dissolve In Liquids
The Kratom powder can easily be added to liquids and dissolve. You can add it to water, juice,
milk, tea, hot chocolate. An attractive option is to mix either powder or the paste into a smoothie.
People often mix it with sweet liquids, to neutralize the naturally bitter taste of the powder.

Add it to Food
Kratom powder of paste has the perfect consistency to mix with food. Remember that the
powder has a slightly bitter taste, so take into account that you might want to add some spices
or flavor modifiers. You have countless possibilities:
· Spread on bread with honey
· Mixed in with oatmeal, pudding, applesauce or yogurt
· Mix into warm applesauce

Drink Kratom as tea
Never boil your kratom. When making tea, let the leaves or powder seep in hot water and then strain and drink the teas. Many people would rather crush dried leaves into powder or buy it as such. To change the taste, some users mix it with other types of tea, add lemon juice or sweeteners. You can produce tea extracts for later use: just evaporate the water from your Kratom tea. You will end up with resin extracts in the form of small pellets. You can store them for later, swallow them directly or dissolve them in hot water. A good ration is 1 tablespoon of Kratom to 1 cup of water. Never boil Kratom. The easiest way to make tea is in a coffee maker, just like you would make coffee.
